Why Choose Soco's 'Ulmo' Honey?
When you buy Soco's 'Ulmo' Honey, you are helping us create a new way to sell our pure, raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized 'Ulmo' honey. Most honey in Chile is purchased by powerful, influential business entities. Those entities often leave little room for negotiation when buying honey from Chilean beekeepers. Beekeepers often have to accept a certain price per kilogram or the beekeeper is often left without any money. The majority of the honey in Chile is purchased this way - then it is heated and mixed together, barreled and sent to Europe where it is heated again and packaged for sale. Don Boris and his family have decided to create a new path whereby we can sell their pure Ulmo Honey in a final consumer jar (we are the only company bottling 'Ulmo' honey this way in Chile). When you buy Soco's Ulmo Honey, you are helping pave a new path for Don Boris and helping shape the future of the honey trade in Chile and you are buying truly pure 'Ulmo' Honey in the condition it was meant to be eaten by mother-nature.
Don Boris & Boris Jr.
Soco Honey is bottled at the source in Chile - we are the only 'Ulmo' Honey packaged at the source into the final consumer jar intended for export in Chile. Our natural honey comes from a family that has been keeping bees for 3 generations. The well-being of the bees is priority number one. Our bees have the same lineage now for over 80 years. We never use any pesticides or antibiotics. We prefer caring for our bees using traditional methods passed down the generations.
Keeping Bees Happy
As a beekeeper, Don Boris knows the well-being of the bees is vital. We keep our bees in Curicó, Chile during the winter months - as the winters on Chiloé Island are harsh. In the summer, we transport our bees to our land in Chiloé where there is a high concentration of Ulmo trees.
